Nibs Matthews

Charlie, Bagman of the Morris Ring, asked me to publish this sad announcement of the death of Nibs Matthews, legendary Squire of the Morris Ring-- Ed.

I suspect that you have all by now received the sad news of the death of Nibs Matthews - Past Squire of the Ring, mainstay of the EFDSS for many years, real gent, etc.  I have delayed sending information to everyone until the dust had settled and the wishes of his family were clear. I would like to thank Ron Smedley for all his work in this area. 

The funeral arrangements were as follows:

Friday 24th March, 1pm at West London Crematorium, Kensal Green, Harrow Rd, W10 4RA.  The crematorium is to the west of the 'circle' in the middle of the cemetery). There was a gathering afterwards in the WIV pub (formerly known as the William IV) on the Harrow Road within walking distance for 'a drink on Nibs'. 

Donations to 'The Vaughan Williams Memorial Library' (c/o Malcolm Taylor, EFDSS, 2 Regents Park Rd London NW1 7AY)

There are plans for a memorial event in September.
