In Celebration of Morris in America

The Mass Dances for the
Midwest Morris Ale, 2009

Notes: I have chosen the dances of this year's MMA to honor the dances of the first MMA in Minnesota in 1985; these were some of the dances we did then. All questions, etc. can be directed to me (Andrew Bullen of Pullman Morris and Sword). Sheet music scans taken from Bacon. All music recordings started life as ABC files on the Morris Ring's site. Many other videos can also be Tony Barrand's DVRA site.

RECESSIONAL (in the style of Bampton)

Bonny Green Garters

The words to this are (dammit!):

"First for the stockings, and then for the shoes, and then for the bonny green garters! A pair for you, a pair for me, and a pair for them that comes after!"

We form up in two long lines (generally, although on occasion we have stayed in a large circle of teams and gone from there...). Figures (no choruses) are Foot up, Half Gyp, Whole Gyp, Half Rounds. This bit is done to BGG Bampton music:

The Half Rounds then hie off into the distance, with a series of OSS (starting on the left) and then Bampton Half Capers (L r r). This is done to the BGG Headington Quarry music:
